About us
We are the first non-religiously affiliated and diverse anti-porn organization formed in Vancouver, BC, on the west coast of Canada. Our pioneers are a group of young anti-porn activists with a dream to make the world a safer, healthier, and happier place for all by restoring love and dignity. We are primarily a nonpartisan and non-profit organization that launched in January 2019.
What is "Pornography"?
There are mixed definitions of what pornography is but the term itself originated from Greek origins. If directly translated from its Greek origins (porna,pornae f.) + (-graphia), the literal meaning of it is “recorded or graphic description of prostitutes/whores/harlots”. Most live action pornography nowadays is literally prostitution recorded behind a camera…….
Our Mission
As a diverse and non-religious organization, VAP Society’s mission is to advocate on behalf of those who have been negatively impacted by pornography using various integrative approaches including scientific facts, empirical research, feminist analysis, the biopsychosocial model, spiritual teachings, legislation, art, music, and personal experiences. What makes us further unique is that we are both an educational and abolitionist organization that primarily focuses on harm prevention while most anti-pornography organizations only focus on harm reduction………….
